Using the following scale, multiply the number of credits assigned to each corresponding letter grade by the appropriate value to determine the weighted value.
| Letter Grade | Grade Value |
|---|---|
| A+ | 10 |
| A | 9 |
| A- | 8 |
| B+ | 7 |
| B | 6 |
| B- | 5 |
| C+ or Lower | 0 |
Calculating Grade Point Average (GPA)
Credits are assigned to each course based on the amount of instructional time:
- 5 credits for year-long courses
- 2.5 credits for semester courses
To calculate a student's GPA:
- Multiply the credits assigned to each course by the corresponding grade value.
- Add all weighted values together.
- Divide the total weighted value by the total number of credits attempted.
